What if there were no laws?
What kind of person would you be?
There is one thing you need to come to terms with about YOUR life as quickly as possible.
Human (your) needs are insatiable.
It doesn’t matter who you are or what you have achieved; I tell you, you cannot be TRULY satisfied. Realizing this truth and accepting it about yourself is one step in the journey of SELF-MASTERY.
We used to sing, “Jesus is enough for me,” while growing up. Is that still true for you today?
The moment you say ‘Yes’, I know you’re a very insincere person, even if you’re the most spiritual person. Unless you accept this truth about yourself FIRST, you can never lead yourself when it comes to your desires and wants.
“Jesus is enough for you” because you do not yet have the privilege to explore the true desires of your heart. Right?
Take the whole world and give me Jesus — lies.
Let the whole world truly be given to you; only then can you say that, and we will believe you.
Every man is a Saint until they are given the opportunity to be a devil.
Peter boasted about the sincerity of his heart, and Jesus laughed at him.
The disciples of Jesus said they wanted only Jesus and nothing else, but they were the first to take off when the soldiers came for him.
Even the one who loved him and lay on his breast during their Bible study sessions used his privilege as a relative of the high priest to follow from afar.
Other apostles were not better than Peter; in fact, if given the same circumstances, they would have probably done more than verbally betray their master.
So, yes, you’re a human with a plethora of desires and wants. You’re not just expressing them yet because the opportunity hasn’t come.
Your desires are there not to CONTROL you but for you to become their MASTER.
And UNTIL you have had the opportunity to express a desire and you EFFORTLESSLY decline, that’s when you are truly ruling yourself.
I said ‘EFFORTLESSLY’, not the one you did because of FEAR of your pastor, your parents, or punishment.
True intentions are seen when judgment and punishment are removed.
When you begin CONTROLLING your desires not out of fear, but simply because it’s your choice, you are truly exercising dominion over yourself.
So even if God’s word says ‘don’t do this’, you must be able to exercise your self-control to the point where you don’t do it because you are CONVINCED, not because of FEAR of judgment.
Some believers live very hypocritical lives.
We don’t question things or even know why we should obey the things we read in the Bible.
Of a truth, why shouldn’t I have sex before marriage? Aside from “the Bible said so,” WHY should I not do it?
Why should I not steal or lie or curse?
If there were no laws, some believers would live worse lives than those we call pagan.
I’m not saying something strange. It happened right in your scriptures. The people of Corinth learned that there was no penalty for sin, and boom, they began to live anyhow till Paul came to bring order.
So, don’t fight your desires (if you ever want to master yourself). Realize that you’re to CONTROL them EFFORTLESSLY, and begin to walk towards this goal.
Anything you don’t deal with now because you were too scared to ACCEPT yourself, on a very good day, life will turn, and those desires will manifest, and the fall may be the last straw that breaks the camel’s back.
At the end of the day, all that life does is GARBAGE IN, GARBAGE OUT.
You may not believe it, but the laws of the universe are statutory. They don’t know if you’re a Christian or an idol worshipper.
Life is fair.
As you go out daily, keep in mind that your desires should be subject to you EFFORTLESSLY and not the other way around.
