Why we run away from God
Why do you think people tend to run away from God when they do something wrong?
It’s because they do not know that they have been forgiven.
Hebrews 9.12 says, “With his own blood he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever.”
Verse 15 says,
“... For Christ died to set them free from the penalty of sin...”
Also, verse 22 says,
“without shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.”
But we know that Christ died for our sins, not to condemn us or make us feel dirty anymore, but to always draw us closer to himself.
God’s will, according to Hebrews 10:10, is to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus, once for all time.
That means you have been made holy once and for all time.
Then, verse 18 says,
“and when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.”
This is very key to us today. If we still need forgiveness, it means Christ has to make sacrifices again and again, anytime we need forgiveness, but glory to God, we ALREADY have received God’s forgiveness.
No, God isn’t taken by surprise for whatever wrong you did or have done or may do. His forgiveness was given to us once and forever. We always have forgiveness in Christ.
So, do not run away from God when you do wrong. That’s the time to run towards God the most, because he that is well does not need a physician. Only sick people need a doctor. Have you ever seen any sick person running away from a doctor? He wouldn’t because that’s where his cure lies.
Run to God after your wrong; he has already given you forgiveness. You are his righteousness. His love. His cherished person.
He has already accepted you. He is not thinking whether to do so or not. You’re already accepted in the beloved.
The cultists on the streets have been forgiven.
The prostitute who everyone makes fun of has been forgiven.
The terrorists have been forgiven.
The hardened criminals have been forgiven.
The liars have been forgiven.
The witches and wizards have been forgiven.
Everyone on the earth has been forgiven.
You see, this is why you cannot hate the unbeliever. They already have God’s forgiveness. They don’t just know or believe it yet.
So when next you see that criminal being stoned to death for his crimes, just know that is one person who the Lord has forgiven.
This will change your message of salvation from a “God will forgive you” future tense to a “God has forgiven you” past tense. It will put an urgency and a compassion for the lost in your heart.
The Lord isn’t screaming judgment to anybody or nation on earth; he’s screaming: FORGIVENESS!!
Do you know why we come to God?
We come to God because we have been forgiven. You do not come to God so that he will forgive you. No. You come to God because he has already forgiven you. Everyone on the surface of the earth has been forgiven, and that is why they should come to God.
This is the gospel.
This is why it is called the GOOD NEWS.
